Prepare a request that can be checked remotely

State the general location, expected result, dimensions, materials, deadline, and who can provide access. Dated photos and one continuous video of the starting condition reduce ambiguity.

02

Verify the business and responsible person

Check the profile, business register, category, and comparable work. Ask who makes decisions and do not send personal documents that are not needed.

  • Legal name and contact
  • Examples of the same type of work
  • Two or three checkable references
  • Payment account consistent with the agreement
03

Obtain comparable quotes

Send the same document to at least two businesses. Ask them to separate labour, materials, travel, and possible extras. A total without a scope is not a quote you can supervise.

04

Pay against documented milestones

Tie payments to visible outcomes rather than dates alone. For substantial work, appoint a trusted local person or an independent professional to inspect.

  • Photos or video before installations are covered
  • Written acceptance of every change
  • Invoices and evidence for major materials
  • Defect list before final payment
05

Rate the process you actually experienced

Even if you were not physically present, you can review communication, documentation, adherence to the quote, and an outcome you checked. State that the job was managed remotely and do not claim observations you did not make.

Frequently asked questions

Should I prepay for materials?

Only when the material and amount are documented, the supplier is clear, and the agreement states what happens if work does not proceed.

Are photos enough?

Not for every job. Hidden installations, dimensions, or technical quality may require video, invoices, measurements, or local inspection.

Who should hold the keys?

An identified person with clear responsibility. Never publish the exact address or access method on a public profile.
